So this is whats happening at the Blue House. The old shingles have been removed and the rotted wood replaced. Yesterday a crane arrived to take the package unit off and place it in the back garden til the rest of the repairs are done.
Progress is very slow...and its a little disappointing. When we hired this company... we looked at a few estimates...and were very careful who we chose. They offered good quality materials at a reasonable price.... but it still was a heck of amount of money. With the package unit being taken off the roof.. it means we will have no heat til its replaced.. not even a fire in the grate. Its a slight concern as the weather has turned quite chilly.. especially in the mornings. So when we were told it would be completed in eight working days..we were optimistic and paid the deposit.
But.. on the first day... we had a phone call to say one of the work crew had tested positive for the virus... so they all had to be tested. Not their fault of course... and a replacement crew arrived the following day. It was then that were told that because the replacement crew was working on two sites... the roof would still be done in eight working days.... but THEIR working days at our house... and so far they have been here three times since October 26th. MrD has been on the roof inspecting their work more than they have. So according to them...it should be done by Thanksgiving... at the end of this month!!
Oh well at least we have an electric fire!
But if its not done ready for Santa... there will be trouble!!

I hope it's done soon! We have also had to wait too long when we worked on our porch. It's hard!
