Last night.. the bed moved..the house shook.. the dog freaked

and hubby said.."shhhh.. go back to sleep"!!

Thats twice in two weeks...

Mushrooms....

So how does a California housewife spend a Saturday morning??? Learning how to grow mushrooms at the Conservation Centre of course. Well.. this one did anyway.

Surprisingly the large workshop was packed. It was quite informative and I learned a lot.. and may just have to give it a try. It actually looked like fun and would love to be able to do it with my grand children. They would love it

Afterwards my friend and I took a walk around the centres gardens and orchards...

and even spotted a few wild animals.. (fake of course!)

So nice being in the fresh air and considering it’s January… 

it was quite warm and sunny

I even took off my cardigan.

Well that was quite a jolt…

4.6 earthquake! Everything shook.. including me and my coffee…

And I thought it was just my hubby that rocks my world..

Its cold and it even hailed for a few minutes this afternoon..

Sadly, Christmas is coming to an end and Im taking down the decorations over the next couple of days...

But... in the words of old Wurzel.. there's nothing like "a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake..."

Happy New Year...

Good Morning from the Blue House in the Hills... and Happy 2024

MrD and I made it to 8.30 before falling asleep but were awake to see theNew Year in.. thanks to Prince who was a bit upset by all the Fireworks... poor baby.

I dont make resolutions..as I always break them.. but Im setting a few goals for myself. Im sharing the top three

One... to look after myself better.. Ive finally realized that Im getting older.. and I want to be around to see the grandkids grow up so no more excuses

Two.. embrace the things I love doing... even if it seems a bit weird to other people. So that means cutting back on the modern stuff.. and more 1940s music, movies and even style. I plan to start cooking and baking at least one recipe a day from my large 1940s cookbook collection( look out for the photos) And you never know... if I can whittle down the waistline a bit.. I may start dressing a bit more like Greer Garson..or in my case... Margaret Rutherford....(Google and you will understand)

And three.. Blog more... enough said!
