Fridays Fave Five

Today I thought I would join Susanne over at Living to Tell The Story and  her Fridays Fave Five. I have so much to be grateful for right now, and I'm having such a wonderful life, its difficult to find just five things but here goes

1. New Boots
I had a late Christmas present from Mr D. A cute new pair of boots.....with heels!. Since losing over 90lb in weight (but with a bit to go I might add), Im able to wear heels again and my shoe passion has returned. I saw these boots on sale at JC Pennys just before Christmas, but they didnt have my size. My wonderful hubby went behind my back and got them for me, and they were delivered this week. I have such a sweet husband and cant wait to wear them when we go out on our 'date' this weekend

2. Stuffed Peppers
The favourite meal I made this week was Stuffed Peppers. Mr D and I love them. They are nice and healthy too. Find my recipe here

3. Skyping with Little H
Living in a new country, and leaving family 5,000 miles away has been very difficult. But, having Skype brings us closer together. I Skype the kids 3-4 times a week, and I love talking with my grandson. At two years old, he is getting a pro at it

4. Miss C's Cooking Disaster
My 20 year old daughter is very independent. She has a good job and her own home. But, I really thought I had taught her to cook better. Last week she sent me a pic of a disaster she had cooked and demanded that I came home immediately as she was going to starve. This week another pic arrived with the message..."Muuuuum.....I did it again!!". I think it was supposed to be eggs.....

5. My Favourite Quote
For a few years I had a very hard life. A disastrous marriage sent me into indescribable unhappiness and deep depression. A quote that kept me going ..and one I live by today..is by the wonderful Majorie Paye Hinckley. She has quoted so many words of wisdom and this one means so much to me.
“The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it.
You either have to laugh or cry.
I prefer to laugh.
Crying gives me a headache.”

So that's my favourite five for this week. I hope you enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Love and Hugs

  1. Hi Phoebe, Welcome to Fave Fives and welcome to California (where I live).
Our kids and grands live on the US east coast so we are learning to skype too.
    Cute shoes!
Remind your girl that we all ruin a few meals and it's best to do that early on and get it over with...and laugh when you do it :)
