Heaven Has Another Star

It has been a terrible year for losing favourite celebrities...but this Christmas has been the worst. Rick Parfitt.. George Michael and of course Carrie Fisher to name a few. But I must admit todays news has hit me the hardest.

Debbie Reynolds has been my idol all of my life and I am truly sad...

But I guess the grief of losing her beloved daughter was just too much to bear
and did not want her little girl to go alone

Debbie and Carrie are now reunited
and will now walk hand in hand into eternity

RIP Lovely Lady
You were...and are... a Shining Star

Love always

Happy Christmas

 We had a lovely Christmas....
It was a quiet affair....just He and I.

I was awake at 2am skyping to my daughter in the UK.
I think I told you shes a bit nuts!

After breakfast we opened our wonderful presents...
which included this beautiful tree ornament from my Sissy

Dinner was delicious...
but I think we will be eating leftovers for quite a while!

Later we skyped with my Son and Little H

Who seemed to enjoy his Christmas Dinner...

and loved what Santa brought him!

So even though it was just He and I....
we wernt really alone...

What a Happy Christmas!

Light of The World

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve

I apologise in advance for the fuzzy pics
but they were taken from a moving car
So....after a lovely Dinner at Applebees

MrD and I joined hundreds of cars following the Santa Trail
around the Brea Christmas Light Neighbourhood,,,

where nearly every house was covered in
amazing festive decorations

both outside...

and inside.

Trees...both small...

and tall... were decorated

There were Snowmen...

Gingerbread Men...

and Reindeer....sitting...

and flying.

So much to see...

so much work....

and so many lights!

And I was so pleased to see that the
Real Reason for the Season was not forgotten..
The True Light of Christmas!

very unusual...but very cute

There was one off my fur grandbabies

and even Scruffy wasnt forgotten

I often think my daughter is a bit nuts!

but I think Scruffy likes it.

The pre Christmas Gift for Miss C has finally arrived in the Uk

and the sentiment is absolutely true

Cooking Thursday ~ Cheese and Garlic Biscuits

Its been a little chilly ...and has been raining hard since last night, so for dinner I made a hearty beef stew. To go with it.. I made some cheesy garlic biscuits. Its the first time I have ever made biscuits. Being from the Uk...biscuits are what Americans call cookies. These look like our version of cheese scones. In any case..they didnt turn out too badly for a first attempt ...and hubby said they were good. As long as he is happy.. thats all that matters to me

Cheesy Garlic Biscuits

Cooking spray
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons vegetable shortening, at room temperature
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
6 ounces grated yellow cheddar cheese (about 1 1/4 cups)
3/4 cup whole milk

For the garlic butter:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 clove garlic, smashed
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley

  • Preheat to 425 degrees.
  • Lightly mist a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl.
  • Add butter and shortening and rub in with fingers until it resembles crumbs.
  • Add the cheese and mix well
  • Add milk slowly to dry ingredients while mixing.
  • You should have a soft dough, but not wet or very sticky.
  • Do not overwork the dough or the biscuits will be tough
  • Sprinkle flour on a wooden board or working surface.
  • Turn dough out on that.
  • Pat out lightly with fingers until about 1 1/2 inch flat, or a little less.
  • Press out rounds about 2 1/2 inches across.
  • Gather excess dough and repeat process.
  • Bake until golden, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, make the garlic butter:
  • Melt the butter with the garlic in a small saucepan over medium heat
  • Cook for 1 minute.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the parsley.
  • Brush the biscuits with the garlic butter and serve warm.

Wonderful Pack of Bells

The telephone rang and it was a flustered hubby on his way from work...

"Siberian Canon" he gushed down the phone

"What?" I replied

"Siberian Canon " he repeated  "and a pack of bells!"

" Are you drunk?" I asked

" No no no " he said " Just remember it"

"Ok " I said

" Better still" he said "Google it!"

So I did and I had a wonderful Aha! moment

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra with Christmas Canon...

Its a wonderful version of  Pachelbels Canon in D...
the music that played as we were married two years ago.

Wonderfully soothing

Wonderful to get me into the Christmas spirit..

and equally wonderful that my Hubby recognized the music on the radio...

and loved it!
