Fridays Favourite Five

It’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story

And this week it seems to be "coming to you by the letter S"

Starbucks Surprise
After he had been working a long 12 hours...hubby surprised me with my favourite iced coffee.... because he "knew I had been working hard all day"!! Hes such a sweetheart

Sunflowers
It may be Autumn..but sunflowers bring some sunshine to grey days...
and they never fail to make me smile

Skyping With my Sunshine
All my Family live 5,000 miles away in the Uk....so I am so grateful for Skype
Video calling to my children and my grandson brings them just that little bit closer

Stitching
I love to sew..but recently I was diognosed as having Carpul Tunnel in my hands, so some days its really hard to hold a needle. But..I am very grateful for the days when I can get things finished... and I have managed to complete a couple of hearts this week

Soulmate
Apart from my children and grandson...this guy is the biggest blessing in my life. He is kind considerate, thoughtful and hardworking. He makes me laugh everyday.. and I am so grateful to Heavenly Father for bringing us together.

So those are my five...Im looking forward to next weeks blessings
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Free and Easy.....

I dropped lucky on a pork tenderloin this week. It was supposed to be $8 but was half price (not sure why because it has a good date). I had a $3 off coupon...and I turned in the receipt for a $1 Ibotta rebate....so it was free! I love a bargain!

So this is what we had for dinner...very easy and very delicious.

Slow Cooker Hasselback Apple Pork Loin

Pork tenderloin
1 apples, thinly sliced
2 cups baby carrots
2 cups baby potatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

  • Using a paring knife, make a series of small, parallel cuts across the length of the pork loin
  • Fill each with an apple slice.
  • Place carrots and potatoes in the bottom of slow cooker,
  • Place the apple-filled pork loin on top.

  • Whisk together honey, soy sauce, mustard, balsamic vinegar and minced garlic together in a small bowl,
  • Pour over pork and vegetables.
  • Cover slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours, or on low for 6-8.

The photos arent the best...but it tasted better than it looked..
and there is plenty leftover for pulled pork sandwiches on Saturday

Cake and Crochet

After lunch I made Banana Bread....
Now if I could just find a place to hide it from hubby..
it may just last more than a couple of days!

I really wanted to make Pumpkin bread..
but MrD turned his nose up at the suggestion.
He likes what he likes and there's no changing him.

Mind you....I wouldn't want him to change either!

The rest of the time was spent making blanket squares

What a peaceful afternoon

Still No Sammy

I managed to walk my five miles today..

but it was very hot.... I really must try and get out earlier.

I had to have a little break in the shade halfway round as I was burning...

and there was still no sign of Sammy ...his tree looked empty.

Maybe it was too warm for him too

What I Miss Most......

I have been thinking...and its almost two years since I came to America.

I have been reflecting on what I miss most about my Home in Wales.

Apart from my children and my grandson who I love and think about constantly

and Cadburys chocolate...which I also love and think about quite a bit..

is it ....
my mountain?

 The Nature Reserve?

 The Boating Park

 The Rivers?

 The Woodland Walk?

 The Clifftop Walks?

The Harbour?

I miss them all....

But, I think, most of all...

I miss my Pink Spotted Wellie Boots..!!
Well....wouldnt you ??

Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

What a wonderful afternoon spent at the Pumpkin Patch!
First we had a ride around the farm on a train
pulled by a tractor driven by this very happy man

We saw row after row of pumpkins...

 beautiful sunflowers....

and the occasional straw couple..riding a straw wagon...
pulled by their straw horses

Then on to the Corn Maze....
which was row after row of sameness.
Thank goodness MrD is good at reading maps

We then visited the farm shop which had lots of beautiful vegetables
including these fabulous aubergines/eggplants

Indian corn....

and hundreds and hundred of pumpkins and squash

 of every size...

 texture..

 colour...

 and shape....

 even curly ones!

So pretty made into a decorative basket.

I had a wonderful time...
