Hanging On ...Just a Bit Longer

Day off from work so I've been catching up with housework. I was debating whether to take down the Christmas decorations.. but decided to wait until the weekend. Christmas went too fast so I'm hanging on to it a little longer. Back in the UK it was a family tradition to take them down by January 6th.. 12th Night.  Mum said it was bad luck to leave them any longer...I dont know if thats true or not. All I know is..come Saturday...my house will be looking very bare again.

Also...have you noticed... it takes twice as long to put Christmas decorations up..than it does to take them down. Heres a tip for storage that will save time next year..

Sunday Thought ~ Matthew 2 10-11

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Merry Christmas to You....

Im a bit late..but Im joining Deb over at Breathing in Grace

Well Christmas came and went in a flash!
I was working today...and it was so busy. We were only closed for one day....although some customers were a bit put out that we weren't open....

But I loved spending Christmas Day with my hubby, I got to skype with my family back in the UK...and had a long  telephone conversation with my Mother in Law in Washington.

Heres a couple of photos from the day..

Santa had Eggnog and a cookie ...

and whats good enough for Santa...
is good enough for me

We have had some beautiful cards this year,,
but my faves have to be these authentic vintage ones
sent to me by a fellow vintage lover

Christmas Dinner was delicious...

and so were these...Yum!!

I hope you all had a wonderful day

Merry Christmas

Although it's been said many times, many ways...
No one sings it better Than Nat King Cole
Enjoy!

Oh Come.....

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Once in royal Davids city,
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little Child.

He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today

We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel

Oh, come, all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
Oh come, ye
Oh come, ye to Bethlehem

Come and behold Him
Born the King of angels
O', come, let us adore him
Christ, The Lord

Deck The Halls with Boughs of Holly...and Pine Cones

Im working til lunchtime tomorrow
so today was a chance to get a few things finished

Here's a quick peak into my busy day...

I slipped out to the shop this morning..
and found some bushes with berries

but I used some artificial on a little display in my bedroom.

and I used some real pine cones and greenery in my candle box

Our Church has its Nativity scene up over the front door..
its so beautiful when its lit up

I finished sewing the buttons on my Christmas apron.
Ok..so the fabric isnt festive..
but I love the cherry print...and it IS red and green.

I also whipped up a couple of cushions for the sofa

My cookies are done...

Cranberry and White Chocolate,,,and Double Chocolate Chip
Enough sweetness I thought...
until...

Hubby arrived home and proudly said...
'I brought pie!! I couldn't decide which...so I got four!!
So we have slices of Coconut Cream.. Banana Cream..
Chocolate Cream.. and Cheesecake.
Well..could you choose?

Im so ready for Christmas now.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

I miss cold winter weather
so we went for a drive out in search of snow...

When we left home it was a warm  70 degrees.

But the higher we got..the colder it got

2 hours later..

7000 ft up in the mountains..

we arrived at Big Bear Lake

It was a very cold 32 degrees so we layered up...

Fire pits along the High Street brought welcome warmth

And what a pretty place it was

Now it feels like Christmas!
