Good Morning fromThe Blue House..
The weather is turning decidedly chilly.. and we have lots of work to do outside today. our order of winter firewood is being delivered and it all has to be sorted and stacked. It will probably take more than a day.. and we can make a good start
So, with all that hard work ahead.. a hearty breakfast was called for...little sausages, veggie scrambled eggs and my homemade potato cakes. Made from leftover mash, chopped onions, wilted spinach and some crumbled crispy bacon, they are easy to make, and freeze well so you always have them on hand. Delicious..and just listen to that sizzle!
This weekend I also want to make my Christmas cake...so here's a question. For those who make a traditional Christmas fruit cake... to "feed' or not to "feed"...and if you do.. what "food" do you use?
Have a great Saturday.. its time I start burning off that breakfast
Love and Hugs

No fruit cake here, unless its dipped or soaked in Brandy or whatever alcohol we have, grin. I am open to anything--actually we are having friends for Thanksgiving (we are actually going there on Friday for their family Thanksgiving), anyways, we all were discussing what to have Thursday since she is doing a big dinner on Friday. I do believe we all have decided on a deli catered lunch. ANYWAYS, we don't do fruit cake, it's just something neither of us care for, smiles. AND not much cooler weather here in Florida. Nights cool off, but the days are still warm.
ReplyDeleteWe used to make a really fabulous fruitcake — full of pecans and candied fruit but instead of some of the candied fruit (like the citrus) we used candy orange slices — a pain to cut up because they were sticky and really sugary. Then, when we were done we would “feed” it with apricot brandy. I do assume you are speaking of THAT kind of feeding it, right?
