Surprise Visitors...

This morning MrD was clearing the narrow alleyway between us and our neighbour when he discovered three baby birds that had fallen from a nest under next doors roof. Their fall had luckily been broken by an angled tarp that was strung to the fence to protect their dog from the sun.. so the chicks had simply slid into our side.. but it was still quite a drop... and we didnt know how long they had been there.
There was no possibility of putting them back in the nest as it was falling to pieces.. so we made a nest in an old hanging basket and hung it as near as we could
Even tho the parents occasionally returned to the nest they either didnt see.. hear (the chicks were making no sound)... or were ignoring their babies and sadly by late afternoon.. one of the chicks had died. We didnt want to interfere too much as we really want the parents to come back
So... we have decided to leave them for the night and have trained a camera on the basket to see what the parents will do.. but we have determined that if we wake and and they are still alive we will have to take charge. We're praying for the best
Love and Hugs
