The Simple Womans Daybook

Its time to join Peggy for this Mondays Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY ...February 2nd. 2015

Outside my window...
Its 7am...just getting light and already its a sticky 63 degrees...its going to be a warm one!

I am thinking...
Of my aunt back in the Uk who is celebrating her first birthday since the death of her husband. Its going to be a year of firsts for her...

I am thankful...
that I know death isn't the end. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will see my parents again...and I know that one day my aunt will see her husband again

In the kitchen...
my empty breakfast dish is in the sink... the meat filling for tonight empanadas is simmering nicely on the stove...and I've just poured myself another cup of freshly brewed coffee...lovely.

I am wondering...
if I should try and make my own pastry for tonights meal instead of using frozen

I am wearing...
Jeans, black shirt, black sneakers, a long silver necklace with a huge heart and silver hoop earrings. Socks for the day...pink heart socks ( think you might of gathered by now I love funky socks)

I am creating...
a cushion...uphauling some thrift shop finds...and I have just finished these preserve jar toppers...they just need some ribbon.

I am hoping...
that all my creative ideas will look as good as I imagine them to be

I am reading...
'Emma' by Jane Austen......fabulous author...fabulous novel.

I am going...
to try and get though to Immigration Services again today and try and make that appointment to get my name changed...its harder than than you might think

I am learning...
patience...although its very difficult trying to get information over the telephone when I really need to speak to a human not a machine

I am looking forward to...
My Valentines date with MrD next weekend. It will be the first one we have ever spent together

A favorite quote for today...
is just as the plaque says on my wall

I am praying...
for my Mother in Law...who I have only spoken to on the telephone and have yet to meet, who is on 24 an hour a day oxygen and who has just been admitted to hospital

Around the house...
The housework is done....getting up so early with MrD means I get finished quickly. But having said that I'm starting to organize my craft space...all two shelves of it..and utilizing some little baskets and containers I bought from the dollar store yesterday...

One of my favorite things...
in all the world are butterflies...I just love them. Back in Wales there was one that used to follow me around the garden and land wherever I was working. It used to stay still and let me get really close to take its picture. The kids said it wasn't the same butterfly...but what do they know (winks)

A few plans for the rest of the week:
more creating I hope...I really have got the bug for it right now...

Love and Hugs

  3. Oh how I wish it were 63 here! Well, it was over the weekend (very rare thing the first of Feb.). I think you should try to make your pastry! You never learn if you don't try! :)
Hope you have a great week!

  7. Looks like we are making the same dinner today!

I love your jar toppers and your pink craft baskets.

I am thankful that I know death is not the end. I will see my loved ones again, too.

I understand your feelings about wanting to speak to a human on the phone instead of automated responses. It definitely takes patience to not lose one's temper!

  8. Phoebe, your preserve jar toppers are beautiful! What a lovely way to give a jar preserves as a gift. Oh my! Your filling on the stove looks so yummy. I'm getting hungry! And that is so amazing about the butterfly! I am certain it was the same butterfly who would follow you around each time you went out. ;) I love that it would land close by wherever you were working!

Have a great evening, my friend.

  10. Dinner looks yummy! I have to admit I've probably made that face a time or two, trying to have a "conversation" with an automated service! lol
Praying your MIL gets well soon...

  11. I truly enjoy reading your daybook. You have lovely crafts, your dollar/thrift store finds and I am intrigued by what you will be doing with the box. God bless with the immigration details. May you breathe a sigh of relief when it is over.
