Im a bit late posting my weekly chat with Patrice...many apologies..Long shifts are taking up my time. I hope you can all bear with me until things finally calm down, which may take a couple of months.

What are you doing for Easter?

Working in the Care Home. Well someone has to and it will be good to be able to spend time with people who have no one to visit them at this special time. And Im sure we will be wearing the Easter Bonnets the residents made this week

How many spring flowers have you noticed the last week or so?

Daffodils, Tulips, Crocus, Muscari, and my favourites that I photographed today, Bluebells. Its so wonderful that Spring is here at last and everything is starting to bloom

What was your favorite thing in an Easter basket, or as dessert at Easter dinner?
Anything chocolate..eggs, bunnies..always a treat at Easter

If you were a dog, what kind would you be?

I dont mind, maybe a Spaniel. As long as I was loved and get lots of cuddles...thats all that matters

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

Hmmm....anything except anchovies. Cheese, mushrooms, pineapple...love them all. I have even got used to eating olives (Mr Ds Favourites) But at the moment pizza is off the menu as Im trying to get healthy.

Everyday Ruralty

What has kept you busy lately?
Work, work work! Twelve hour shifts are a shock to the system, but it is getting easier..and Im enjoying it. Care work is the most rewarding job I have ever had.

Are you making or creating anything?
I have a facebook page where Im sharing my weight loss journey. Basically its to keep me on the straight and narrow and for my friends and family to kick my butt if I start to waver

What are you really hungry for right now?
Chocolate....but its not hunger..its greed. Oh darn...Easter is around the corner. I.. must.. resist!!

What song has stuck in your head lately?
Im not a big fan of copies of songs, but when I recently heard this version of 'Stairway to Heaven' when the Kennedy Centre honoured Led Zeppelin, I was completely blown away. I cant get it out of my head. I think the Zepps were impressed too

If I could celebrate my upcoming birthday with you, what would we do?
Definitely a pamper day, manicure, pedicure, facial and a trip to the hair stylist. It would do us both the world of good

And This Is Me.....

A couple of months ago I told you I was trying to lose weight for my wedding later this year...and to feel healthier. 

I have been overweight most of my life, but had no idea how bad it had got. I just avoided looking in the mirror to much and started buying bigger and bigger clothes. I ignored the aches and pains I was getting and put it down to getting older.

Then, on my return from my visit to Mr D in California at the beginning of December, I looked carefully at the very few photos of myself (I tend to avoid the camera too). Mr D looked so gorgeous..but me I looked awful. I was shocked..and I cried. What had I done to myself?

But, self pity does no good, and only I could do something about it. No one made me overweight..it is all down to me...and I determined to start doing things right. I owed it to me...and to Mr D, who loves me no matter what and who I want to spend a very long and happy life with.

I immediately started eating healthier, weighing everything, counting every calorie. I went to the doctor and got her to refer me to the gym. And I started to walk. I walk everywhere and everyday..no slacking. Plus I have a very physical job. And the weight has been dropping off 

I have a long way to go..but I now feel confident enough to share a couple of photos with you

Last Saturday..4 months and an incredible 66lb down

...and the smile is genuine
