In the Kitchen... Apple Pie Filling!!

Its been a busy couple of days in the old kitchen..
the dehydrator has been earning its keep
taking care of.. amongst other things...
the peppers I bought at the Farmers Market
3 for a dollar...a bargain!
When done they look so pretty in the jar...almost like candy

Im getting to be a bit of a dehydrating fiend!!

Easy Freezer Apple Pie Filling
Hubbys workmate brought more apples. They were not too hard so I decided to make Apple Pie Filling for the freezer ready for when we have pie in the next couple of weeks. Its lovely because the sugar, flour and juices meld together to make its own caramely sauce. Simple...and smells delicious

1cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup corn starch
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • Thinly  peel and slice apple into a bowl of water and lemon juice
  • When ready drain and put back into the bowl
  • Add all the ingredients
  • Mix well
  • Divided into ziplock bags and press out as much air as you can before sealing
  • Freeze for up to 6 months

  1. Hi Phoebe~

That looks delightful! Nothing is more comforting than the smell of an apple pie in the oven! The peppers will also be such a good thing to have in storage, no running to the store!
