Whats For Dinner ~ Meal Plan Monday

Another busy week coming up in the Daso household as I continue my Every Bit Counts Challenge where I try to put something by every day.. no matter how small. Over the weekend I managed to play catch up and now I am on the same day as everyone else on the challenge.

Yesterday we attended a new church. Since moving to our new place.. we determined we would travel back to our old one..which is quite a way. But last week our Pastor told us of a church just five minutes from our home that teaches along the same lines...and they too teach the word outside ..although the service starts an hour earlier. So we gave it a go.. and we loved it. The Pastor teaches so well.. And what would you know.. the part of the bible they have reached.. is Genesis and the story of Joseph...and how interpreting Pharoahs dreams led to preparedness and saved many lives.

“They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.” – Genesis 41:35-36

MrD has always been on board with what Ive been doing... but this was a " wow...ok..is someone trying to tell us something?" moment...and now wants to do his bit. He says if I concentrate on our food.. toiletries.. cleaning stuff etc... he will focus on on other basics like our safety... first aid... and what we would do if the power went out.

I dont think I want us to go over the top and be "Preppers"... but we both think we need to be prepared. Plus...I love it when we can do things together

Have a great week... and here's this weeks menu

  1. Like you, I want us to be prepared but I don't want to go over the top and be obsessed with it. We keep a pretty well stocked pantry and freezer routinely but the latest experience with empty grocery shelves has made me a bit more vigilant about keeping things stocked. Glad you found a church near you that is in line with your beliefs... sometimes that's hard to do in these times. Have a great week.

  3. ok, I'll be over to eat this week, grin (just teasing). Tonight, I think hubby is making chicken out on the grill, if the weather holds up (suppose to storm later as its 92* and humid out).

Listen, can I tell you something? Back in 2011 when we were still living in Alabama, we were hit with an EF5 Tornado. We were not prepared (all those yrs living unprepared-playing a dangerous game of Russian Roulette so to speak, sigh), lost nearly everything. ANYWAYS, since we now live in the great northeast where snowstorms are common in the winter, my husband and son have become preppers. It doesn't hurt to do so, just saying. You live in earthquake land, right? Bottled water is a must, as is first aid. Just think about it and discuss it with Mr. D. smiles. P.S. Not meaning to scare you.
