Hubby and I had a lovely..but tiring day out today..We walked miles..but thats for another day
First though..we paid our respects to the men and women of the armed services at a ceremony in Orange County.
We met many proud veterans and thanked them for their selfless service. Afterwards we went to a late lunch at a local restaurant who every year give a free lunch or dinner to a veteran
Just inside the main door was a table...laid out... with an empty chair. On the window sill above was a framed inscription...which poignantly explains it all..
The white table cloth and place settings symbolize the purity of their motives when
answering the Call of Duty
The inverted wine glass is to symbolize their inability to share the evenings toast
The salt shaker symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families
who seek answers
The Slice of Lemon and the spilled salt is to remind us of the bitter fate of those
captured and missing
The bud vase and single red rose, as well as the lit candle, remind us of the life of
each of the missing and their loved ones and friends still keeping the faith
The Red Ribbon around the Vase stands for our continued determination to account
for our missing men and women
And the chair , of course, is for our missing men and women
With respect and gratitude...
Thank you veterans
Love and Hugs

We must thank the people who work for us not themselves.
ReplyDeleteWhat a poignant poem. Glad you helped out, I'm sure the veterans appreciated it!
