Honesty time...
Two weeks ago, MrD and I decided we were going to eat healthier and lose some weight. He, I must say, looks fine to me, but he wants to lose about 10lb. Me on the other hand, well I have loads to get rid of.

Two Years ago....and 96lbs later |
Two years ago, through unhappiness, illness and depression, I weighed an embarrassing 306lb. Before I moved to the US, I had lost and amazing 96lb in less than a year
But, unfortunately, married life agrees with me,,, so much so.. that in this the first year.., I have gained 26lb of it back. So, two weeks ago, it was time to take stock, and do something about it.
Now....Im a great one for believing that, even when dieting, your food should be appealing to the eye and full of flavour. Im not one for cardboard food. I could never stick to a diet if thats all I could eat. So I have been eating 'normal' food, but tweaking the recipes so they are lower in fat and calories.,,just like the ones above
Thats how I lost the 96lb in the first place...and it seems to be working now.. In the last two weeks I have lost 8.8 lb....and hubby has lost 3lb.
My previous wedding..and the happier one |
I have a long journey ahead of me...but by the Summer..I shall be a much healthier..and.. hopefully leaner person
Love and Hugs

Good for you! It's a never ending battle for me too. I lost weight last year (and still had a lot to lose)but gained it back again, so I need to get at it too. My hubby seems to be able to eat whatever he wants and doesn't gain...

Good morning Phoebe,
ReplyDeleteYou are making wonderful progress with your delicious food choices. I think it is all about reducing carbohydrates and eating more vegetables; you are on the right track.
My husband and I started a diet together at the end of last August. He only has to cut back on his food to lose weight and mostly can still enjoy all the things he loves to eat. For me, it has been much harder. I pretty much have had to cut our all sugars and starches, but I do allow myself an occasional day of some treats. Mostly, I follow the The Diet Doctor (dietdoctor.com/how-to-lose-weight), which is a low carbohydrate high fat diet. I was counting calories, which always left me feeling hungry. This diet is very satisfying.
I eat wonderful salads with carbohydrate free dressings, delicious meat dishes, and blueberries with cream for dessert.
Keep up the good work; it's worth the effort for sure!
:) Hope
