After the Rain

 That bit of rain we had over the weekend has done the garden a power of good

The potatoes that were planted just over a week ago have already broken ground.. 

even though I planted them two inches deeper this year. 

Fingers crossed they will do well in the bed rather than a pot.

I was also surprised to see strawberries already growing on the plants I over wintered from last year.. and very tasty they were too

And the hibiscus plants are having their final season flowering in pots. They will soon be planted in the new border we are creating.. giving the garden a lovely splash of colour.

It’s so exciting in the garden this time of the year

A New Project...

A grey day here at the Blue House.. very windy with rain forecast for tomorrow

MrD.. finished work for the week but of course… can’t relax for too long. 

He started a new project in the back garden

There’s a lot of work to be done out there.. but the flowers are bursting into bloom

Easter Sunday...

Happy Resurrection Day!

He is Risen..

Wonderful Sunrise Service at church this morning. 

It was a bit nippy.. 

but lovely to watch the sun come up over the mountains

Then it was home for a bit of relaxing and a tasty Easter Day lunch of home baked ham.. garlic shrimp.. potato salad…deviled eggs.. lemon asparagus and avocado salad

Such a blessed day…

Planting...

Well.. it’s Easter.. and the back garden is still a bit of a disaster. MrDs accident has put us way behind in our plans.. and to be quite honest.. last years catastrophe of the rat invasion left me indifferent about the veggie beds.

 
But… MrD has now had the all clear from the doctor (of course the first thing he wants to do is get on his bike) and garden work can begin again

The first thing I needed to do was get my seed potatoes in the ground.. they’re more than ready.. and this year they’re going in one of the beds. Problem with that is Prince has been digging in them.. and loves the coolness of the soil.

So once the potatoes were in… we made a makeshift fence to stop him getting in. Mr. D cleverly welded together some rebar to make brackets and we used old fencing we can just lift on and off for easy access. All done just before the rain hit which the roses loves.

Remember the fence? We used it a couple of years ago to keep Prince away from the Christmas tree!! The things we have to do because of this hound lol. So problem solved for now and hopefully we get no critters this year. 

And this weekend MrD is planning to crawl under the house again. 

I think my mojo may be back

The No Bake Bakers...

This year is the first year ever I didnt make an Easter Cake...

So it was left to Little Miss and Little Tufty to carry on the family tradition

And I must say they did a fabulous job with their 

No Bake Rice Krispie Bundt Cake

There was enough time to take a pretty photo for a picture frame.....

and maybe one that wasnt....

Happy Birthday Splodge..

 Happy Birthday to my Little Splodge..

She was the most wanted.. most longed for baby girl...and she has become  the most wonderful daughter and the most amazing wife and Mummy.

She has the biggest heart.. the most generous spirit.. and the kindest disposition.... 

but dont ever cross her (road rage Caroline!)

I miss our shopping dates... our "ladies who lunch" dates and our concert dates... 

even if it was for The Osmonds.. The Bay City Rollers.. Davis Essex and Leo Sayer. 

Was it really so shocking to see...as you said... "hundreds of old people rocking out!!"

Not long now til we can do it all again
