The Orange Circle

Even though the weather was a bit grey.. I had a lovely day with hubby today walking around dozens of vintage stores at the Orange Circle in Orange County

I saw so many lovely things. Hubby wanted me to buy myself something and kept saying 'If you like it get it'...but Im trying to be careful with our money

I was so tempted to buy a pretty dinner set as we dont have one.and it was a bargain at half price..but I resisted..

A little later I saw a lovely hutch. I really liked it but it was a bit expensive so I walked away. A pity really as it would have been perfect to house the Dinner Service

Ahhh well.at least the Dinner he treated me to was delicious...lol

Safety Issue...

I love my little walks. Even though I live in the city, there are some very pretty places and there is always something to take a photo of. Being from a small town in Wales, I am mindful that things are very different in the US. I make sure I stick to main roads and walk in 'respectable' areas. I have always felt safe

But things are changing...

Today I walked my usual route..albeit a little earlier because I wanted to get back and do some stitching. Two hours later...a couple were shot and fatally wounded right on the spot I had been walking!

Its the third incident near where I live in just over a week.. first during a home invasion where the owner was killed...and then two young men were shot just down the street by a suspected 'gang banger' Before then..three more shootings..including a policeman sitting in his car in the police station car park! And dont forget the mass shooting in San Bernadino..which is not too far from here

I have been living here just over a year. It wasnt like this when I first got here. Now I hear sirens all the time. Gun violence is virtually unheard of in the Uk and Im finding it increasingly worrying. I dont want it to stop my wanderings...but it is making me think twice about where I going to walk. Is anywhere really safe?

I wish hubbys work would make their mind up whether they are going to open a new plant or not.. That way we can move to a new town... and maybe a better community.

But I have to ask myself....Is anywhere really safe?

Early Spring??

Feeling better, I went walking today...
And it felt like a Spring day
The sun was shining..it was warm..
and flowers were in full bloom
Its only been a week since I was out there..
I was surprised to see how much the roses have grown
They really made me smile

But now for a couple of terrible photos from today...
but I wanted to share.
If you look really hard you can see a little hummingbird
He was moving so fast I hardly caught him...
and his wings are a blur
Thinking about it...I should have used the video...ahh well!

Hearts at Home

Well..it appears I am now a 'Lady of Leisure' again...my work confirmed that it was in the contract I signed that any time off  I took off for illness during my probation would mean instant dismissal. Dreadfully harsh I think, but rules is rules..and I must admit it wasnt the best place to work. And Hubby dosnt mind at all...hes enjoying having me home again...so thats a plus

Still ...it gives me more time to make items for my Etsy shop. Im really enjoying designing and sewing them.

I dont use a pattern and I get the ideas out of my head...which dosnt switch off right now because Im constantly thinking about the next thing I would like to make

These are a few I have just finished. I  hope you like them as much as I enjoyed making them

RIP Colonel Brandon.....

I am truly saddened this morning to hear about the passing of one of my idols Alan Rickman. I have followed this mans career for over 30 years and loved his work

His Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility was my Mr Darcy. His Sheriff of Nottingham wasnt so evil...and I was very forgiving of his Professor Snape and could never really dislike him

Daniel Radcliffe paid a great tribute to him..and summed him up perfectly

Cancer is a terrible thing...and it has no respect for fame, power or wealth, It affects us all at one time or another. I pray that one day soon we will find a cure for this terrible disease

RIP Sir. I for one will genuinely miss you

Its The Little Things

My Hubby is quite a very thoughtful man, but is very reserved, so when he does something out of the blue it makes me very emotional

Knowing Im not too well right now, He came home from work today with a greetings card

He had obviously spent a lot of time picking it out because it was just perfect. Its like it was written for us

He knows how to make me feel better

In with a Bang

The New Year definitely hit me with a bang. Right now Im off work with really bad sinusitis, chest infection and ear infection.  Im coughing soo much if it were an Olympic sport I could win the gold medal! My face is swollen... the glands in my neck are swollen...heck..after all Christmas indulgences..all of me is swollen. Im hot...then Im cold..then Im hot again. Mind you....that could be because Im a lady of a certain age...so I should be used to that

And...because I am still on probation in my job...Im not supposed to have any time off.. so unless I get well soon my I may not have a job to go back to!!

Ahh well...at least I now have some time to pretty up my blog.! Its not a total loss... (winks)
