What a Good Idea - Chocolate Strawberries

A fresh twist on yummy chocolate strawberries. Place halved strawberries in an ice cube tray, cover with melted chocolate and place in the fridge to harden. And for an extra bit of ooomph... pop a small dollop of cream or ice cream in with the strawberries

The Adventure Continues

Hello Everyone...I hope you are all well. My travels are continuing and I finally have some time and access to a laptop. I'm having a wonderful time, and its bringing out the gypsy spirit in me. So far I have spent time with my brother and his family in Lincolnshire, been back to the village where I grew up to catch up with friends and a few family members, and at the moment I'm staying with my son and his fiancee in Northumberland. On Thursday I will be off on my travels again to stay with my daughter. I really am getting around and being very spoilt. I'm going to spend today reading over the blogs of my fabulous friends and see whats been happening in your lives. Then this week, I will be posting some pics of my journey so far. Its good being back with you again

What a Good Idea - Lemon Wheels

Lemon Wheels... I think you could use this technique on other fruits and veggies too, but I'm loving the look of the lemons

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch ~ 89

Tuesday mornings come around so fast and here we are ready to visit Patrice over at Everyday Ruralty for her Chats on the Farmhouse Porch. This weeks questions are a little different as they have been asked by members of our chats community. So grab your coffee, and lets go take a peek

From Suzanne at p.s. Annie!: Are you part of the back to nature/ecological group or are you more of the mindset of "I'll do what I want and everything will work out in the end"?
Im not overly obsessive...but I do try to be as responsible as I can when it comes to looking after the environment. I recycle as much as I can, try to buy foods that are locally produced, do laundry at low temperatures and try to keep household waste as little as possible. Im not doing it for me. I have children and I worry what the world will be like in the future if we dont do what we can now to make it a cleaner place to live

From Stacey at Happy Bride to be: What's a favorite dinner dish to make?
I love to cook, and my favorite changes from week to week. Im making  a lovely chicken dish tonight, which is absolutely delicious and my daughter loves

From Melanie at Melanie at A Year of Jubilee Reviews: What animals have you seen give live birth?
Only on television, but I thought it was amazing. How incredible is the process of new birth?

From Anne at Homeschool on the Croft: If you had the opportunity to teach something, what would you
teach?
I am no Einstein, but I was actually training to be a Physics teacher at one time. But, family responsibilities took over and I had to give it up. I guess now I could start training again..but I dont know if I could cope with todays teenagers

From Madonna at Butterfly Acres: What did you love most about school?
I loved everything about school..the lessons, the teachers (except Mr Davis who was always angry) the school musical productions, and the friends I had, some of whom are still with me today. I actually cried the day I left school...wonderful times

What great questions ladies. I look forward to next week

Homemade Skin Softening Scrubs

sugar body scrub Simply Sweet Skin Softening
source

Summer will soon be here and there will be no more hiding under sweaters and coats. So when I saw a recipe for Homemade Skin Softening Scrubs I thought I would give it a try.

Coconut Oil
Sugar
Mason jar
Essential Oils (optional)
  • Melt coconut oil. You could use olive oil which is just as good for your skin but it does have a stronger scent.
  • Pour in enough sugar to make a paste.
  • Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
  • Pour the skin treatment into a clean glass jar with a secure lid.

And thats it...simple. Just scoop a bit out every day when you shower and rub it over the parts of your body that need help exfoliating like elbows, knees and feet. So far so good

This beauty treatment keeps beautifully for months. You could make this a lovely gift by pouring it into a mason jar and decorating it with stickers or decoupage. Tie some colorful ribbon or raffia into a bow and give someone a gorgeous gift.
